Adult education is the practice of teaching and educating adults and Navjivan Foundation on this service from 2004. This often happens in the workplace, through extension or continuing education courses. Other learning places include folk schools. The practice is also often referred to as Training and Development. The organization has arranged several awareness programmes on the adult education across the country by its volunteers and on practical field by arranging camps in rural area. Through our awareness programme volunteers suggest to the village illiterate farmers for more knowledge on agriculture and get high quality of production literacy is most essential. The financial organization and the banks are providing different types of loaning facility to the farmers. So more over to get better facility literacy is needed. In another side of women literacy Navjivan Foundation effort is in high quality effort. The volunteers in local area suggest to the illiterate ladies for the domestic calculation and better knowledge and the control on the children education is necessary. Like this from the age group of 15 and above Navjivan Foundation is on the way to develop the adult education programme.

If we see the local Govt. after India's independence, several schemes and campaigns like the Community Development Programme and the Sarva Shiksha Mohim were launched by the Government, to accelerate the process of spread of literacy. An inter-ministerial project called Farmers' Training and Functional Literacy was launched, to popularise high yielding varieties of seed among farmers through Adult Education. A scheme called Functional Literacy for Adult Women (FLAW) was started in 1975-76, to boost the literacy rate among women. A two-pronged approach for the universalisation of elementary education and universal adult literacy was adopted for achieving total literacy. Over the years,National Policy Of Education has given an unqualified priority to programmes for eradication of illiteracy, particularly among women. The Indian Government has decided to follow an integrated approach to literacy. This means that the Total literacy Campaign and the Post Literacy Programme operates under one literacy Project. This approach would allow the illiteracy problem to be tackled in a holistic manner.

Successive decennial censuses have pointed to a large mass of illiterate people in the country, and from 1959 to 1977 various sporadic and uncoordinated efforts, as indicated below were made in the field of adult education in India. This was followed by the center based Programme under the National Adult Education Programme from 1978 to 1990 by which time the National Literacy Mission had come into existence (in 1988) and based on the initial success of the campaign approach, the same was accepted as the dominant strategy for adult education programmes in India. A massive Programme of Adult Education called the National Adult Education Programme (NAEP) for removal of illiteracy in the 15-35 age group was formulated by the Government of India and launched on 2nd October 1978. The target for this Programme was to educate 100 million adults within a time frame of five years.

The National Literacy Mission was set up by the Government of India in recognition of the need for priority attention to literacy for speeding up the development process and was launched by the Prime Minister of India on 5th May, 1988. The objective of the National Literacy Mission in quantitative terms was, to start with, to impart functional literacy to 80 million adult illiterate persons in the age group 15-35 (30 million by 1990 and an additional 50 million by 1995). This target has since been revised to making 100 million persons literate during the VIII Five Year Plan i.e. between 1992 and 1997. The NLM has adopted a campaign approach, the success of which rests on the mobilization of social forces and on securing people's participation. Our purpose to active senior citizen by education facility and we are arranging several camps in this topic. As a result the older people have proper knowledge on the circumstance and they by reading news papers knows the thing happening in this human society.
